Terms of Service
Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using lawyours.ai. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and LN Software, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 96619880 ("we", "us", or "LawYours"). By creating an account, accessing, or using lawyours.ai (the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
2. Service Description
LawYours is an AI-powered SaaS platform that provides English-language search, summarization, and analysis of Dutch public law. The Service uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology to deliver insights from publicly available legal sources, including overheid.nl and rechtspraak.nl. Each AI-generated response is accompanied by source references for transparency and verification.
3. Account Registration & Responsibility
To use the Service, you must register for an account by providing accurate and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe have been compromised.
4. Subscription & Payment
The Service offers a free 14-day trial period. After the trial, continued access requires a paid subscription. All prices are listed in euros (EUR) and are exclusive of applicable value-added tax (VAT). Payments are processed securely through Mollie, our payment service provider. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled before the renewal date. Refunds are handled in accordance with applicable Dutch and EU consumer protection laws.
5. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms. You may not: (a) use the Service to engage in any illegal activity; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems; (c) interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service; (d) use automated tools to scrape, extract, or bulk-download content from the Service without prior written consent; (e) resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service; or (f) use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair its operation.
6. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the Service, including its software, design, trademarks, and documentation, are owned by or licensed to LN Software. The underlying legal sources accessed by the Service (legislation, case law, and parliamentary documents) are public domain under Dutch law. Your use of the Service does not grant you any ownership rights in our intellectual property. You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service, but grant us a limited license to process that content as necessary to provide the Service.
7. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
The Service generates content using artificial intelligence and large language models. AI-generated outputs are provided for informational and research purposes only and do not constitute legal advice, legal opinion, or a substitute for professional legal counsel. While we strive for accuracy through source-referenced retrieval, AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. You are solely responsible for verifying all AI-generated outputs against original sources before relying on them for any legal, professional, or personal decision. LawYours expressly disclaims any liability for decisions made based on AI-generated content.
8. Data & Privacy
We are committed to protecting your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Dutch data protection laws. Our Privacy Policy, available at /privacy, describes in detail what data we collect, how we process it, and your rights as a data subject. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party providers to deliver its functionality. These include Google Cloud Platform (infrastructure and AI services), Mollie (payment processing), and Firebase (authentication and data storage). Your use of the Service is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of these third-party providers. We are not responsible for the practices or availability of third-party services, though we carefully select providers that meet our security and privacy standards.
10. Service Availability & Modifications
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to the Service. We may modify, update, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance when reasonably possible. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by temporary unavailability or changes to the Service.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LN Software shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Dutch law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LN Software, its directors, employees, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) any content you submit to the Service.
13. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms or engage in conduct that we reasonably consider harmful to the Service or other users. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will handle your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data retention laws.
14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in The Hague, the Netherlands. This does not affect any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence within the European Union.
15. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or via email at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you must stop using the Service and terminate your account.
